ABOUT
Pacou, geboren 1972, kommt aus Berlin, wo er auch heute lebt und arbeitet. Als Jugendlicher begann er mit dem Plattensammeln, nachdem er durch zahlreiche Clubbesuche Acid, House und Techno entdeckte. Diese Musik war im normalen Radio und Fernsehprogramm kaum und in den Plattenabteilungen von Durchschnittskaufhäusern gar nicht zu bekommen. 1993 besaß er dann etwa 300 obskure Dance-Vinyls und fing an, sich Musik Equipment für eigene Produktionen zu besorgen. Am Anfang standen da ein Atari 1040 Computer, ein Yamaha Midi Keyboard und eine Roland 707 Drum Maschine.
Bis 1996 kamen dann noch einige weitere Geräte zusammen, so dass nach ersten Demo-Aufnahmen dann im Herbst 1996 Singles bei Raw Musique (unter ‚Agent Cooper’) und bei Tresor Records erschienen. 1997 folgte das erste Album ‚Symbolic Language’ auf Tresor.

Zur gleichen Zeit etablierte er sich als Stamm-DJ und Liveact im Tresor Club. Im folgenden Jahr gab es bedeutende Fortschritte sowohl im Bereich Produktion als auch DJ Auftritte. Er bekam die Möglichkeit, in anderen Ländern Europas, Australien und Japan aufzutreten. Neben kleineren Projekten mit Freunden gab es ein weiteres Album auf Tresor namens ‚No Computer Involved’. Im September 1998 gründete er sein erstes eigenes Label ‚LL Records’. 1999 gab es Zusammenarbeit in Form von Remixen für Ben Sims, Scan 7 und Access 58 und eine Single ‚A Universal Movement’ auf Tresor, die symbolisch für die weltweite Kooperation der Independent Szene im Bereich elektronische Musik steht.

Schließlich erschien im März 2000 das 3. Album ‚State of Mind’ auf Tresor, verbunden mit einer ausgedehnten Welttournee. Weitere Veröffentlichungen folgten bis 2001 auf dem holländischen ‚Djax-Up-Beats’ Label und ‚Konsequent Records’ aus Deutschland. Ein spezielles Projekt erschien auf dem renommierten belgischen ‚Music
Man’ Label in drei Teilen unter dem Titel ‚Rio Sketches’. 2004 bis 2005 erschienen drei Singles unter dem Titel des Live- und Studioprojektes ‚Autofokus’. 2005 Stand im Zeichen der Produktion ‚Berlin Sessions’ für Tresor mit Juan Atkins und der Gründung seines neuesten Labels ‚Cache Records’. Bis Mai 2008 erschienen dort bisher zehn Veröffentlichungen.

Pacou was born and raised in Berlin Germany where he still lives and works at present. Back in 1989 the sounds of House and Techno took off there. Starting out as a hobby, he became a music collector and went to many now legendary parties and club events. 1993 he bought the first little music equipment. Three years on, he produced, and then released the first records under the name ‚agent cooper’ (Raw Music) and ‚Pacou’ (Tresor Records). Soon after, Tresors recordlabel released Pacous first longplay album ‚Symbolic Language’, and he became a resident DJ at the club.

The year 1998 marked a substantial progress in both DJ and production aspects of the work. He started playing DJ sets around Europe, Japan and Australia, and changed over to fulltime work on music and performing as DJ. The main release was the experimental techno style LP ‚No computer involved’ on Tresor. In september 1998 Pacou founded
his first own label ‚LL Records’, for release of some of his own material and of some friends. 1999 saw the continuation of work, a 12″ single called ‚A Universal Movement’ and continued travels and showcases around the globe. Remixes for Ben Sims and Access 58 from UK were also done at the time.

Another LP format ‚State of mind’ was released in March 2000, furthermore vinyl singles on the famous dutch label Djax-Up-Beats. Tour dates again ranged from Brasil to Australia. In fact travelling became more important – learning about other cultures and climates first hand changes views on life… Finally the website www.pacou.com was started in mid-2000. Musical projects for 2001 included releases on the German ‚Konsequent’ imprint (album and singles), the ‚Music Man’ and ‚Djax’ record labels. March 2001 saw a tour over Australia with stopover for ashowcases in Singapore. New plans for 2003 included continued work on Music Man label series ‚Rio Sketches’, and starting a new Livemusic / performance project ‚Autofokus Music’, which released 3 vinyl singles in 2004/ 05. Tresor released another single ‚Last Man Standing’ in February 2004 and a whole album ‚The Berlin Sessions’ produced with Juan Atkins in 2005.

The newest project is the vinyl label “Cache Records”. It was started in May 2005, May 2008 sees the 10th release. So far Pacou played in places of more than 20 countries, and so the story will continue… spreading the good vibe.
